About

I am Salman Karim, an architect, designer, and illustrator based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. For nearly a decade, I’ve been working in the building design and construction industry, and I currently manage the design studio at Dehsar Works as Head of Design. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work on projects of many scales, from intimate interiors to urban scale developments, each one teaching me something new about how people interact with space.

I spent the formative part of my career at Volumezero Limited, where I contributed to projects like the Bashundhara Sports Complex and Oasis at Ispahani Colony, alongside a number of residential and mixed-use developments. Those experiences helped me grow not only as a designer but also as a collaborator, learning to balance creative ideas with the practical realities of construction.

Outside of practice, I enjoy designing furniture and creating vibrant architectural illustrations. I am also a passionate football fan. I enjoy playing as much as I enjoy designing sports facilities, where the pitch, the players, and the crowd all feel like they are in the same game.

I believe good architecture is simply common sense made visible, and I try to bring that approach into my work every day. I also enjoy engaging with the academic side of architecture, often taking part in workshops and joining design juries as an external critic to share what I’ve learned and to keep learning from students in return.
